Full Frontal appears in Evening Standard

By   April 16, 2013

“Go full frontal in your street”

“FERN ALDER is proof positive that it takes just one person in their street to get everyone to clean up and green up their act — notably, their front gardens. Watering her plants one afternoon outside her terrace house in Rochester, Kent, garden designer Alder looked down her road and thought, Wouldn’t it be wonderful if every house had a front garden full of plants instead of rubbish?”

Planting Day Sat 13 April

By   March 28, 2013

Dear All

We had a small and cosy planning meeting on 23 March with scones and tea! I hope you are all well and looking forward to some warmer weather – we are going to need it …

PLANTING DAY:

Saturday 13 April from 10.30 to 12.30

We will be outside number 10 Clive Road with FREE SEEDS and FREE COMPOST. If you have pots bring them down, if you have spare bring them along too. If you don’t have enough pots you can come and see what is on offer, there will be plenty to go around.

The plan is to plant up your pots – using a choice of the seeds on offer – and wheel them home in our wheelbarrow. All the seeds can go directly into the pots and go straight outside. No need for cloches (hopefully) or pricking or complicated time-consuming activity.

This is to go alongside other plants you have outside for the summer. We just need to incorporate some edible planting for the Britain in Bloom in July. The seeds on offer will be:

Chives, parsley, coriander, dill, garlic chives, sage, thyme, marigolds, nasturtiums, radishes, carrots, fennel, spring onions, spinach and red frills mustard.

If you cannot come on that weekend do let me know, you can pop in for some seeds and compost after that time, or if really pushed I can put some seeds through your door.

Looking forward to seeing as many as possible.

Recent plant-up news: Cossack Street braves the elements.

By   March 21, 2013

Saturday 17thMarch saw the planting up of the second of the two Cossack Street slopes in Rochester in cold and rainy conditions!  Volunteers from Full Frontal helped to plant up and mulch the bed.  Our local Ward Councillors Teresa Murray and Nick Bowler, as well as mhs homes supported the event with funding, and the Woodland Trust donated 105 free hedging plants, all were planted on the day making the area look much improved.

Supported by MHS Homes, Cossack Street has been given the Full Frontal treatment, with residents braving the elements yesterday to clear the slope and prepare for planting.

Have a look at their progress!

RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood South and South East in Bloom Awards 2013 – Application information

We hope that many of the new and existing groups will choose to enter RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood South and SE East in Bloom Awards, in 2013 It is free to enter, and there will be a glittering awards ceremony in Tunbridge Wells on 11th September, 2013, to which all participating groups will be invited! Photos from the FF New Year bash!

By   February 4, 2013

The event was really well attended by 40 + people, particularly heartening, as the weather was against us on the day.

Lots of new faces and potential new groups came along to join in – all very encouraging for greening up Medway in this coming year!

We are really thankful to Andy for giving us the use of his Function Room at The Alexandra Hotel for our FF New Year event.

Many folks made and brought wonderful food to share, and Suttons generously provided both vegetable and flower seeds to give away.

There were also lots of plant giveaways in the pub’s garden. There was a real sense of excitement with all those attending about the exciting possibilities, for this coming year.

We would like to encourage all Full Frontal supporters to sign up to the website and keep us all posted with news and pictures to  share on how they are progressing with their various projects.  We wish them all the very best for a really brilliant Full Frontal year in 2013.
